Bred Heifer Project
4-H members interested in livestock breeding, especially beef, should consider the Elbert Douglas County Livestock Association (EDCLA) Bred Heifer Project. This is a great project to introduce our youth to the beef industry while starting a beef herd of their own. It is an informative project that is quite different from the other 4-H projects for beef.
The annual catch-a-calf contest is held during the Elbert County Fair in August. Participants compete to catch a calf. If successful they get the opportunity to raise a calf to show at the following year's Elbert County Fair.
The Elbert Douglas County Livestock Association is pleased to announce that its annual memorial scholarships are available to students who are residents of either Elbert or Douglas Counties. The college scholarships are in memory of various residents of the two counties who have had significant impacts on the livestock industry in the area.
